Welcome to the Lisa Lee Pearce Studio
Hello, and welcome to my site. Here is a small sampling of some of my original works. These pieces are painted in watercolor, sometimes with ink, alcohol resists, gouache, and other intriguing techniques. My work is an extension of myself. Even as a young child I felt this strongly about my creativity and art-making. My parents were wonderfully supportive from the start, believing in my creative abilities in helping me to grow. As I mature, I find myself passionately wanting not to just to render something, but to become a part of the medium, and discover how best I can feel, and emotionally express what I find so dear. This could be daily moments in time, transitional values within a composition, the light as it finds an edge of a shadow and so much more...I do hope you will find my work to be interesting and thought-provoking. It, to me, is the pure essence of light and combined colors of watercolor and its many characteristics that bring me the most joy! Life can be short. Sharing my passion through my thoughts, ideas, and emotions is indeed a pleasure. Thank you for visiting my site. If you revisit you will find more images, Drawings, events, information on my classes and so much more. I hope you will come back and see what those might be...All my very best, Lisa Lee Pearce

Artist Biography
Lisa Lee Pearce is an artist of the West. She has been a creative soul all of her life, with fond memories of drawing and painting even at a young age. Raised in Durango, Colorado, her educational aspirations led her to the Denver area, where the faculty at Metropolitan State University awarded her a full-time scholarship, recognizing her innate abilities and potential growth in the arts. She continued studying the Arts at La Poggerina de Firenze, near Florence, Italy. Awarded an internship with a Denver-based design firm after her studies, she went on to own and operate a successful freelance business – and continued creating fine art in a new and unusual form based on the distinctive Southwest contemporary style. By Integrating fine art with graphic design Lisa’s style developed by using mixed-media, enamels, watercolor, and polyurethane on panels. It was a chance encounter that led her to an Art in Public Places project. She went on to have a successful continued relationship with the Mayo Clinic Humanities in Medicine Program in creating large architectural Wayfinders measuring over 10 feet in length for the Phoenix Children's Hospital. On both projects, Lisa worked with an architect/engineer in creating an intriguing visual experience for the viewer. Currently, Lisa teaches many drawing, watercolor, and other art classes at the Museum Of Northern Arizona. Lisa provides instruction through an eight-week progressive series of classes designed with each student in mind. Through in-class demonstrations, weekly assignments, and professional instruction, Lisa teaches with the philosophy of “learning by doing.” “I hope to change the lives of my students by helping them at each step. After all, that is the same way I became the artist I am today. A friendly conversation, or even a color, I find intriguing, can lead me down a new creative path. My life and my art are inseparable. It is who I am, and I can't imagine any other life.”

Artist's Statement
Stepping into the unknown is exciting to me! The anticipation of creating something new and one-of-a-kind is exhilarating and a gift indeed. For me, painting is a continuum, an exploration of my ideas about life experiences. Watercolor and mixed media are the perfect instrument to pursue my objectives. My goal is not only to render something but to feel and express it! I want to engage and intrigue the viewer into an open expressive dialogue of emotion and playfulness. It was my initial use of bright and bold colors that allowed me to dig deeper into my creative senses. My process starts with an idea, an emotion, an experience – and then using a complex medium of watercolor and other mediums to begin laying down color. After an initial wash and several glazes, through contemplation, many times walking away from the piece, I can then come back and observe and feel where the piece is telling me to go. It’s a push-pull, give-and-take experience as if my subconscious is in tune with my heart and soul. It’s not until my final intuitive strokes are made that the piece unfolds and comes to fruition.
